And the Camaro is - by definition - a fucking muscle car.

Just imagine for a moment how batshit insane the Corvette Z06 is going to be.

after watching this, I feel like the Z/28 should get credited as the "new GTR"

When Nissan GTR came out a while back, it slayed things 2-3 times its price range. This current Track Pack version is a damn monster but now the price more reflects it and that "semi-budget" supercar killer is not so much a detail of its charm. For the Z/28 to be as good as a track spec GTR for a give or take $80,000, it pushed the GTR as the budget supercar slayer. I applaud the Z/28 for that just a bit more because as a broke ass mofo that works on cars like me, this is such a wet dream that can actually be a future purchase :]

What is funny is that after yesterday's two Z/28 posts I spent half the night looking for one in my area, going to the chevy configurator (not as fun as the Mustang one). The sad reality is that unless you order one from a dealer chances are we won't find one. As a replacement I've found many ZL1 since those would technically be the poor man's version of the budget supercar slayer. The only problem I found was that 100% were auto, and 95% were convertible. But on the plus side, tune the supercharger a little, and you can get upwards of 600. Ah. I've never respected a Camaro so much. And wanted one. It feels almost irrational, but makes sense.

Now that it accomplished more than any of us probably thought it would, I wonder if it is as comfortable as the GT-R. Refinement is something hard to achieve in beastly machines like these. Now I want a Z/28 so bad. And I'm a Nissan guy, lol.

I'm sure that is the case lol. Hopefully in a couple years, i'll get out of the car biz and make some real money then stumble upon a well kept used one :]

For the TL;DW crowd

Dry track result at Barber Motorsports track in Alabama:

GT-R 1:36.45

Z/28 1:36.17

It was a fun video to watch, but I thought the results were a bit disingenuous, seeing how they were driving both cars on the track when the track was all wet and greasy. They should have posted results for wet and dry times between each cars.

Either way, the GT-R got beat by a few tenths by a muscle car. Cool.

yeah especially since chevy has a track record of not building a Camaro that outclasses the Corvette in anything.

Put things in perspective a full blown GrandAM GS/Tudor whatever the hell its called now car (M3/Camaro/Mustang) would run high 1:34/low 35's in top qualifying trim on race slicks at Barber. Damn impressive for a street car. 'Murica!

I read the article yesterday and that's the amazing thing. They said it was the GTR that was the one that's overly stiff and loud inside. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coup…

Damn. I have no logical explanation to want a GT-R now. Now I want a z/28. Or the cheap version of it.

I'm not trying to say this wasn't impressive, because it damn very we'll is, but the GTR is a six year old car. And while Nissan has iron it out over its long lifetime, it's still an old timer. I'll be curious to see what this thing can do against the R36.

Nope, they're both pretty equally fat. Z/28 is 3850, GTR 3880. Imagine what either could do at (still-not-very-coupe-like) 3500, much less 3200.
